Situated on the edge of the savannah, shaded by acacia trees, Encounter Mara is a 10-tent camp located within the Mara Naboisho Conservancy in southwest Kenya, bordering the renowned Masai Mara reserve. The Conservancy is celebrated for its abundant wildlife and acclaimed sustainability practices, harmonizing the needs of local communities, wildlife, and tourism. It boasts an even higher concentration of animals than the neighboring Masai Mara National Reserve and hosts one of the world’s densest lion populations.
From the camp’s outdoor viewing deck, guests can witness zebras leisurely strolling to the nearby saltlick, observe a giraffe passing by, catch a glimpse of a mongoose darting along the path, or even spot a cheetah roaming the plains. During sundowners around the campfire, visitors can listen to lions calling to each other as they commence their night of hunting. At Encounter Mara, guests have the opportunity to embark on nature walks around the camp or take a thrilling hot-air balloon ride across the plains.
