Tsavo West National Park stands as one of Kenya’s oldest and largest national parks, forming an integral part of the extensive Tsavo Conservation Area alongside Tsavo East National Park and the Chyulu Hills National Park.
The park boasts a rich tapestry of wildlife, encompassing the renowned “Big Five” (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino), alongside an array of other captivating species like giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird varieties. Within its bounds lie several natural wonders, among them Mzima Springs, a vital oasis sustaining local wildlife with its perennial water flow, and the Shetani Lava Flow—a stark, ebony landscape sculpted by a volcanic eruption over half a millennium ago.
Pick up from your accommodation for the drive to Tsavo West National Park, takes approximately 4 to 5 hours. Arrive in time for lunch. Check-in and rest of the afternoon spent at leisure. Overnight stay at camp.
Early morning game drives: We'll be up with the rising sun and the first stirring of the animals! This is the best way to view the awakening savannah and wildlife as it emerges into the new day. Be ready for the adventure of the “hunt”. After this first game drive, we’ll be hunting for a hearty safari breakfast at our accommodation. Entroute final game drive as you depart the park, en route drive to Mzima Springs and other attractions along the way.
Tsavo West offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world and attractions include elephant, rhino, Hippos, lions, cheetahs, leopards, Buffalos, diverse plant and bird species including the threatened corncrake and near threatened Basra Reed Warbler
One of Kenya's larger parks, Tsavo West comprises a huge variety of landscapes including swamps, natural springs, rocky peaks, extinct volcanic craters, rolling plains, and sharp outcrops blanketed by greenery. Close to Kenya's coast, Tsavo West is easily combined with a beach holiday
Common shrubs here include species of Premna, Bauhinia, and Sericocomopsis, and scattered trees such as Delonix elata and Melia volkensii. The Yatta Plateau has a cover of dense bushland, with stands of Baobab (Adansonia digitata)
